For Enrolled Families: If you wish to attend one of our free sample classes, we ask that you bring a friend who is new to the program. Please have your friend call to RSVP for themselves and you.

Music Together Licensed Preschool in downtown Phoenix Head Start!!

Booker T Washington Head Start has received a grant to offer a pilot Music Together Preschool program last spring with Music Together in Phoenix. We were very excited about this opportunity to share music with many children and their families. We were also very greatful to be able to have an after school mixed ages family music class for the parents and younger siblings. This program was made possible by the generous donations of the Allan Sayler Memorial Foundation and Arizona Public Service - much thanks goes to these organizations!

In a Music Together Licenced Preschool, children not only receive weekly music and movement classes with a music specialist, they also get to "bring the music home" (each family and each classroom gets a copy of the CD and music book). The Music Together teacher demonstrates activities that can be led by the classroom teachers throughout the week and encourages classroom teachers to incorportate music in ways that interest them. Together, the Music Together specialist and the classroom teachers work to create convenient opportunites for parents to experience the activities at school, including special parent events!

Because of Music Together's unique traditions of adult inclusion and family music activities for all ages, the entire school community - parents, children in various classes, staff, visitors - learn the same songs. A shared repertoire of songs and activities becomes a part of the school culture - on the play ground, at assemblies, on picnics, or on field trips. Any time members of the school community are together, music becomes a unifying and enjoyable aspect of life!
